December update!

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

Wow, has it seriously been 4 months since I’ve blogged here? Ooops. Can I chalk it up to being busy? *laughs*

I’ve been back and forth to Toronto and other places lots lately… though, I’m pretty excited that my next project will be taking place here in Waterloo. To give you a brief recap of the last few months, September/October saw me performing as Mrs. Vixen in The Beggar’s Opera. The cast was phenomenal to work with, and I couldn’tve been happier to jump in last minute.
I also attended the premiere of Shimea, a martial arts fantasy film shot last year where I played an evil, manipulative shapeshifter. We had an excellent turnout for the screening, and it was great to see the final version, and catch up with fellow actors who I hadn’t seen since the readthrough.

Mid-October, I was in London to shoot The Witching Hour. There were a couple of long, intense days of shooting, but I am ridiculously excited to see the final product. And I can guarantee you that it will be scary as hell. You’d better bring a spare pair of socks when you see it, because it will scare yours off of you.
Towards the end of October/early November, I was in Toronto performing in Sex, Relationships, and Sometimes Love. With my already-hectic month, I came in as a performer part way through the run, and am very glad that I had the opportunity to work with the amazing cast and crew. I can’t confirm any detail for sure yet, but I can say that I would be happy to see a reunion tour. *grin*
As you might’ve seen on the main page of my site, I’ve been working on a couple of spec commercials throughout November, as well as doing a photoshoot with my dear friend Alex. Outside of that, I also directed and edited (yes, I was behind the camera!) a few short segments set in ancient Rome… it was my first time in almost a year where I played DOP (director of photography), but I’m happy with the way the first version has come out. Now, I just need to tweak a few things, add some sound effects, put in the appropriate credits, and that project will be off my plate til the spring, when we film more.

Lastly, I hate to count chickens before they’re hatched… but I’ve submitted the first film I directed, complex, to a local film festival. So hopefully it will get accepted! I’ve also got a couple of other potential-type prospects coming up… but I always irrationally fear jinxing things by talking about them too much, so I’m going to leave off here for now, with a vow to update this blog again within a month or less!

In the meantime, happy holidays to you all!

This Week in My Life…

Friday, March 20th, 2009

I’m having a busy but productive day (or week, or month) so far… this morning, I managed to get caught up on my accounting from the last month and a half (oops, for leaving it that long!) and got my hard drive backed up too. Yep, I’m entertaining and exciting.

Anyway, the Sunday gala and the screening of The Ticket both went well, and I was absolutely thrilled to see a lot of friendly faces in the audience last night. I hope everyone who came out enjoyed what they saw… and there will be a final version of the short sent out to more fests. As well, another short I was in, Justice will be making the festival rounds as well. When I have screening details, I’ll be sure to share them!

In terms of photography (mine), I’ve got a few shoots booked in the next few weeks – some portrait sessions, and a footy game for sure, and more urban exploration when I can get around to it. Went and did a previously-explored location with Alex the other week, and I’ll be sharing the shots from that as soon as I can sort through them.
In terms of photography (not mine) I shot more headshots on Wednesday with the fabulous Tanya O, so once those are back in my hands they’ll be up here on the site as well.

On the acting front, I’ve got a few more auditions coming up in the next few weeks, and as of now, have about five projects that will be shooting in the next few months. The first one coming up is some dark, twisted humour with Yard Sale From Hell’s The Dark Show, and that’ll be starting the first weekend of April.
With FBN Multimedia, there’s a film adaptation of an H.P. Lovecraft story in the works – a different sort of dark and sinister, and one I’m really looking forward to!
As well, I’ll be working with Small Crew Productions on a project shooting in and around the GTA, called 20 Something Summer. My character in that promises to be challenging in all sorts of good ways, and again I’m looking forward to starting production!
As if that isn’t enough, I’m also going to be doing some work with another local KW company, and as well, there’s another project that I can’t talk about yet, but suffice to say it will be 32 flavours of awesome when it’s released. So yeah, that’s a start to my spring/summer, and I’m eager to add more as it comes my way!

One more for the list of appearances…

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

Another short film I did last year, The Speed Demon will be screening this Thursday, March 5th as part of the Electric Film Festival at the Princess Cinema in Waterloo.

… Sorry, that’s all the post you get for tonight… it’s bedtime!

(Though, I will also say that we now have FIVE episodes of A Shadow Shall Fall sent out to composers. That’s halfway, not counting the pilot.)

Upcoming Appearances, & more!

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

So, I’m sitting here watching Harry Potter, and getting ready for a few new & fun things. First off, I’ve made a fan page for my photography on Facebook, and I’d love for you all to become a fan, and help me promote my business!
Yes, I will be making a page for myself as an actor soon, too!)

Secondly, a short film I was in, The Ticket, will be in TWO film festivals in March.
It will be screening on Thursday, March 19th at 7 pm, as part of the Local Focus Two festival, at Kitchener City Hall, and on Sunday, March 22nd at 7:30 pm in Ajax, as part of the SCP Film Fest.

Lastly, I will be appearing in The Windows, one of the staged readings of She Speaks, happening Sunday, March 8th at 8 pm, also at Kitchener City Hall.

I would love to see YOU – yes, you! – at any and all of these events.

For those of you who are supporting me in my endeavours… thank you. =)
And yes, I do take notice of which of my friends and acquaintances actively support me in what I do… suffice to say that your loyalty and support are dearly appreciated, and will be more than returned in kind. <3
