Still Busy!

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

This is going to be another short and sweet post. Unfortunately, I’m still sick… not sick enough to warrant staying in bed, but just enough to be annoying and have me coughing at inopportune moments (like when I’m trying to talk to someone else.)

Anyway, I did a fun, impromptu photoshoot this weekend with Alex Luyckx… the photos from that are up on his Flickr account. It was lots of fun, as always. =)

Aside from that, things on A Shadow Shall Fall are rolling along again smoothly… we now have three episodes sent out to the musicians, and more will be going shortly. ‘All’ that’s left now are the special effects, and the final colour and sound treatments. I say ‘all’ sort of facetiously, because it’s still a whole heap of work… but looking at where we’ve come from (started writing December 2007, did casting in April and May 2008, filmed June to August 2008, and editing’s been happening from September-ish onwards) we’re really not doing too badly for a production on as large a scale as it is.
To put things in perspective, our main cast was about 40, plus extras, plus the crew, and we shot nearly every day. On a project where payment is deferred, it means a hell of a lot of work for people who also have other jobs and projects. But, the ins and outs of production is a post for another day, I think…

My goals for the next week or so (outside of ASSF and social things) are to a) get my income taxes done, and b) get everything caught up in between my online and paper organizers. While I use and adore google calendars, having information at hand is always good. I’m a manic organizer bunny, I just can’t help myself. =P

“Good Housekeeping”

Monday, January 26th, 2009

There really aren’t enough hours in the day to do everything I’d like to do. Or the night, for that matter.

The thing is – I’m great at making to-do lists, and I feel a great sense of accomplishment when I tick the items off one by one. But I have this tendency to over-schedule myself, and generally be busier than I should be, so some of those items (like “put laundry away when it’s fresh out of the dryer”) tend to fall a little by the wayside. If I ever get ‘famous’  – as in, having people with cameras camping outside my house – I’m going to need to get blackout curtains, so they don’t see the mess inside.

Anyway.  So… I have an audition tomorrow for an internet project, which could either be really exciting or really silly. Maybe both. And, in a week and a half, I’ll be doing FASS. Come out and see it! But don’t bring any small children or easily disturbed friends; it’s got a fair bit of adult content this year.

In other big news, I’ve been interviewing with various talent agencies over the last couple of months. Obviously, it’s a big decision and not one to be rushed into… but I’ve finally narrowed my decision to two potential agents.  I’m hoping to have a final decision by the middle to end of the week; it’s harder than one would think, to weigh out all the pros and cons of who you think you’ll work best with and who will do their best work for you. Like someone said, an actor doesn’t want to join up with an agency that’s so large and impersonal that they hear “oh, you. I forgot about you” when they call in to see why they haven’t been submitted for any auditions in the last six months. Not that I’m worried about that.

For those of you wondering, my to-do list for today:

  • invoice a couple of photography clients
  • audition prep
  • put laundry away (heh.) and other housecleaning
  • pick out a few photos for a photo contest
